Diabesity

Are You Suffering from Diabesity?

Diabesity is a term that many people have not heard before.  Being able to understand what the term means and recognize the symptoms can make a huge difference in how well you live.  A lot of people have the symptoms and suffer, but their doctor does not properly diagnose it.  They are not taken care of, which means that their diabetes continues to get worse.  Know the signs, and you will start to see that diabesity is everywhere.  There are more than 100 million people in the United States that are impacted by diabesity.

Exactly what is diabesity?  It could be any stage of diabetes that ranges from insulin resistance to full blown diabetes.  This is when the most harm to the body is happening.  When the doctors fail to diagnose this diabesity, it costs the society billions of dollars.  It also impacts the productivity of the society as well.

A Clear Definition of Diabesity

Before you become a full blown diabetic, you become insulin resistant.  This means that the body’s cells need an additional amount of insulin in order to push sugar into the cells.  This happens because the person does not get enough exercise, eats too much or has too many meals that contain sugar or carbs.  The person also doesn’t get enough fiber.

When people are insulin resistant, they get sleepy after eating meals, want more sweets and cannot seem to lose weight.  When the insulin receptor gets over saturated, it makes it impossible for sugar to enter the cells.  The extra sugar is turned into fats that are known as triglycerides.  Test results that show high triglycerides are usually one of the first indicators for insulin resistance.

Diabetes and Diabesity have Insulin Resistance in Common

A person is always insulin resistant before receiving a diagnosis of diabetes.  It is possible for that person to be insulin resistant and have a normal blood sugar level.  The need for insulin eventually burns out the pancreas, and the person becomes dependent on insulin.  A high amount of insulin circulation not only impacts the blood sugar, but it can cause damage to other parts of the body as well.  This explains why there is more to diabetes than just a high blood sugar level.

Keep in mind that diabetes and diabesity have insulin resistance in common.  The average person assumes that diabetes is all about blood sugar levels, but it is all about insulin.

My Doctor Did Not Provide Advice About Diabesity

Sadly enough the majority of doctors can’t tell you about the problem until you have full blown diabetes.  It is a part of their training.  Tons of people are told by their doctors that they are okay, when they are not.
